Q. Why is my bottle separating? Is it bad?
A. Partial Separation
This is VERY common in flavors. You will sometimes see a cloudiness or setting in a lot of flavors. Please do not be alarmed. A nice hard shake will fix all of your issues.
Complete Separation This VERY RARE in our flavors. Sometimes no matter how much you try, the product is still instantly separating. That is where we should be contacted.
Q. What does WONF mean?
A. With Other Natural Flavors. A flavor must contain only natural flavor ingredients, but these can be derived from natural flavoring materials, such as compounds.
Q. Are all flavors extracted from real fruits?
A. While popular flavors like Orange, Apple, and Strawberry are from real fruit, not all flavors can be extracted. It is not possible to extract flavor from something like fried dough (even if we wish we could).
So how do we get a natural flavor that tastes like fried dough? Well, we create it! We use all natural ingredients to design a flavor that tastes like the application we are looking to mimic. These are called natural flavors, not natural extracts. There is a difference.
Sometimes you may even see Strawberry WONF (WONF means with other natural flavors). This just means that we may add something natural to get the flavor to taste more like a berry, or maybe give it that fresh sweet feeling people know and love.
Q. How do I find the Specific Gravity, the date of production, and more information from the lot number?
A. For this information and other COA facts, please contact email@example.com (We are working on making this infomation online again soon)
Q. What sweeteners do you use?
A. Each product will let you know on that product page which sweeteners are in a product (if any). We do not use sugar, corn syrup, or HFCS in any flavoring. We do use Stevia, Xylitol, Erythritol, and Sucralose in our lab.
Q. Are your flavors gluten-free?
A. Gluten is a mixture of proteins found in wheat and related grains. Because our flavors contain no proteins, they are gluten free.
Q. Are your flavors vegan-friendly?
A. All flavorings made at Real Flavors contain no animal product ingredients, so they are vegan-friendly.
Q. What is the shelf life of Real Flavors?
A. The shelf life of a flavor will vary widely. It is best to follow this guide. To find the exact date of manufacture, please refer to your lot number and our COA guide found on our website.
Super Concentrates have a shelf life of 12-18 months (60F° to 72F°) and up to 4 years if refrigerated. Never freeze flavors, this will cause some separation, and the flavor may "break" causing you never to get them to mix again. VG based flavors will follow this same rule but can be exposed to a high daily temperature.
Be sure to store all flavors in a cool, dark place away from sources of direct sunlight heat and flame; pigments in the flavor (from the natural extracts) tend to fade or discolor over time when exposed to sunlight. This fading is normal and is to be expected. Flavor bottles can explode in temperatures inside the container reach above 150F° from evaporation. For long-term storage, refrigerate, and then allowing the flavor to return to room temperature before opening or using the flavor.
Q. Can I use Real Flavors in e-juice / e-liquid?
A. While Real Flavors can be used to make e-juice, understand that this usage is not a regulated use currently by the FDA. Due to this, we can say it does work perfect for e-juice, but we can not help much with mixing or questions due to it being an "off-label" usage of our product. Real Flavors is more than willing to work with this growing industry in the form of added testing, master file access, SDS (Both US and EU) and TPD statements. Please let us know if we can help in any other way.
Q. Are your flavors organic?
A. All of our product lines are 100% natural, but they are not certified organic. Due to the high cost to get each flavor certified we decided to no label our products as organic but simply all natural.
Q. Are you discontinuing VG Based Flavors?
A. We still think VG Based Flavors have a place in the market and will always be the flavor base Real Flavors was founded on, but as we grow, we have noticed that Super Concentrates are doing better in more field than their VG based counterparts. At this time we have no plans to 100% remove VG based blends from our catalog, but we have focused more on the Super Concentrates. Also, no new flavors will be released in VG Base as well.
Q. What is the difference between VG based and Super Concentrates?
A. VG Based, and Super Concentrates are the same flavor but do differ in the concentration amounts and the base. Super Concentrates tend to be 4 - 8 times stronger than their VG counterparts. VG based flavors are alcohol-free and the only base is VG. Super Concentrates are alcohol based (up to 3%).
